In The Art Studio

Out of a private art-studio in Denver, Amanda Willshire has created a growing community of bottle cap art lovers!

For years, she has built relationships and produced pieces for dozens of breweries  throughout Colorado. We’ve seen her work at liquor stores, restaurant  and tap  houses, at festivals and often times, also auctioned off for charities.

These are just a few of the examples of the art pieces you’ll see throughout Colorado  at breweries and festivals that are hand-crafted pieces by Amanda, at her Awd aRT   studio.  Over the past few years, she’s accumulated quite the list of fans herself.  Breweries such as Left Hand Brewing, Great Divide Brewing, Epic Brewing, Upslope  Brewing, Mockery Brewing and more, proudly display her artistry in their tap  rooms.

Of course, these are a lot of bottle caps, and as the pieces grow, it’s harder and harder for Amanda to do all the hammering herself. Often, interns or studio assistants stop by to help Amanda flatten a few caps.

We stopped by the studio for a visit recently and thought we would offer to help out a bit. Just in time for the fourth of July, Amanda was working on a 7′ American flag made featuring bottle caps from breweries all across the globe.

Here are some of the European brands that came across our work flow:

The American flag piece is still in production, so we can’t give away all the secrets, but what we can tell you is that it will be available for sale starting July 1st at the Mockery Brewing taproom in Denver. Make sure you arrive early, as the last piece she offered for sale to the public sold in just under 6 hours.
